The School Houses
As part of our Behaviour for Learning Policy, we always aim to 'raise the praise' and reward pupils for examples of good behaviours, teamwork and perseverance with tasks. We believe that this encourages others to seek the attention of adults through positive deeds. This means that when we see something good going on, we praise it. This could be good behaviour, following our School Code of Conduct, being polite and helpful or showing good learning.
We know that all the children can do these things and should be rewarded for them.
A large part of our rewards is to award House Points.
Children are assigned to Houses (red, blue, green, yellow) and we appoint House Captains from amongst our year 6 children.
We rename our houses regularly. This year, we thought it would be good to name the Houses after inspirational figures who have overcome personal challenges or adversity to achieve great things.
Our House Captains researched and chose our current house names. They then met with the members of the House and told the children about who they had chosen and why they considered them inspirational people.
These are the inspirational figures the Houses chose:
Red House – David Weir
Green House – Marcus Rashford
Blue House – Michelle Obama
Yellow House – Nicola Adams
So we have Weir House, Rashford House, Obama House and Adams House!
At the end of each ‘big’ term (Autumn, Spring, Summer) the House with the most house points will have a House treat.
